If my eye pressure is normal, does that mean no glaucoma?
No. Normal-tension glaucoma damages the optic nerve even at normal pressure. That's why we look at optic nerve imaging and visual field tests along with eye pressure.
Can glaucoma be cured?
There's no treatment yet that fully cures glaucoma. But starting treatment early can slow further optic nerve damage, so consistent care matters.
If there are no symptoms, how would I know?
There are almost no symptoms early on, so it has to be found through testing. We look at eye pressure, visual field, optic nerve OCT and fundus imaging together, and compare with previous results to see changes.
Do I have to keep using eye drops?
It's important to use prescribed drops every day as directed. If they feel uncomfortable or unusual, don't stop on your own—talk to your care team.
What if someone in my family has glaucoma?
Glaucoma tends to run in families, so your risk is higher. Even without symptoms, a detailed exam every 1–2 years is a good idea.
